Kamping in Indiana

KOA Kamping Kabins are the bomb! We have beds and A/C tonight but still got to spend time just being outside and cooking for ourselves. We are really enjoying the dark and warm tonight. It has cooled down to bearable, probably still in the 80's. Ron and the kids caught fireflies and chased down bats as it got dark this evening. Once they were in bed, we sat on our porch swing and read for a while. I could get used to this....
However, we have had some sweltering days!!! We left Cape Girardeau this morning, after spending a few days with Grandma Bessie. It was good to see her, and we had her whole retirement community talking about how there were visitors from Alaska. People really take notice of our license plate now. Grandma continues to amaze us because at 93, she can be quicker than we are and doesn't miss much. My children rearranged her apartment some, but I think we came away with nothing permanently damaged. We stayed in a hotel close by and even managed to squeeze in some shopping time. Ron decided he needed some decent clothes to be a professor, as he is pretty sure they frown on his uniform of the last few years - tshirts and fleece pants. Anyway, we didn't do a whole lot that makes for good scenery shots, as we mostly hid inside away from the hot, hot muggy weather. Enjoyed some Grandma cooking, and as always, left with more pounds than we came with!
Today, I think for the first time, we passed through a state and didn't spend a night. We got through Illinois and are now near Indianapolis. They have some ponies here that we fed a little, and of course, the required evening playground and pool stops. I think we are all getting a little road weary, and looking forward to not living in our car, but still in mostly good spirits. Kids did excellent in the car today, even with a late start from Grandmas. We pulled out some of the books and toys we had stashed away, trying to give them something new and exciting for this last leg. OK, I think I have rambled on long enough, time to get some sleep.
