It's cold...
Winter has arrived! It's been below 0 for several days, which means all of the things that go along with it, bundling up, plugging in the cars, starting them before going anywhere and making sure Elyse stays warm. We still try to get outside for a little bit each day, but it's pretty short right now.
We have been gearing up for Elyse's birthday on Thursday. Ron and I managed to get out by ourselves to get a few things for her, and found a few things for the holidays too. We will probably do a little birthday party next weekend. She was sick for a few days this week, but is finally getting back to herself and we had a good day of playing today. Ellen stayed with us and Elyse was busy showing off for her toys and her verbal abilites (naming colors, shapes, and counting).
The new baby is moving all the time. I am 25 weeks along - time is flying! The books say it is about a pound and a half and 9 inches long (we compared with some of Elyse's baby dolls). My doctor's appointment last week went well - everything looks good. Even though the pics below show a big belly, things are right on track. I asked the doc to compare the baby's heartbeat to what Elyse's was at about the same time, and they were both about 140-150. The old wives say a fast heartbeat means a girl. It's fun to play the guessing game.
Ron is getting back to himself. He has a rough day now and then, but overall seems to be doing well. He is putting in a lot of time at the office over the next few weekends, taking care of animals and getting some writing done.
That's all for now. New pictures are up on Flickr, but haven't taken any digi's in a while to post here.

Reading through the last couple of entries made me go hmmmm... Ron recovering... from what? A follow-up on his back surgery...? Just spoke with mom, and she filled me in on the stomach/spleen dilemma - she thought she told me about it, but must've told Michelle twice :) Anyhoo, very glad to hear Ron's recovering and that the surgery seems to be doing the trick, and that they fixed the "speen surprise".. any idea when you may have injured it, Ron? That's wild. Yikes.
Sharon, so cool to see your belly pic's! Here's another old wive's tale that i've heard from friends: that you carry boys & girls differently, e.g. in the photos it looks like you're carrying the baby higher this time around; or maybe it's just the photo, or the difference of a week's time, or the pants:) It IS fun to guess.... And look at Elyse!! She's growing so quickly, and what a ham!! Can't wait to see her again... I sent out a birthday package for her via priority mail on Monday, so I do hope it arrives on time... Also enclosed a Mercer Meyer book on "The New Baby" for Elyse; not a birthday gift, per se, just something I found at a used bookstore that seemed pertinent.
Miss you guys, and again, really enjoy reading the blogs & seeing what you're up to.
