Weeks of traveling

You would think that this family has had enough traveling... but we seem to be at it again! We both had a few weeks off from work after the end of the spring semester. SO, we packed everyone up and headed to the Poconos and to Long Island. We stayed with some friends of mine from high school in the Poconos and had a mini-reunion of 4 of us that graduated together. My ever-capable husband braved the NYC traffic so that we could visit my grandparents on Long Island for a couple of days. We had not managed to get down to see them since moving, even though we now live in the same state! It was good to see everyone and our timing worked out really well for all involved.

We got home long enough for me to start back to work and fit in a full week (I am now working Friday-Tuesday). Then we left again on Wednesday morning (6/4).

We just got back from Maine and a week with my family. Here is my little baby brother at graduation. He has confirmed his intent to go to Clarkson and he plans to come and stay with us! We are proud of him and excited to see him more often (and tap him for babysitting and snow shoveling... :) ).

Ron got his grant!!!! This is good news for him both professionally and personally. It is one of the largest grants that the school has ever received. He will be spending the summer completely reworking the basic biology course to modify the content and the ways in which the course is delivered (more online components). He also won a teaching award this spring - the Canton character award for displaying excellence of character. He was nominated by several of his students. So, I would say that his first year was a success and he will probably stick with this professor thing for a while... :).

We signed Elyse up to start kindergarten! She can start this fall even though she won't be 5 until November. She's ready, and I think she will enjoy both the challenge of learning new things and finding some girls her age to play with.

Isaac spent some time between trips feeling really awful with a fever and cold symptoms. The rest of us just had colds. The one nice part about that is he was snuggly with me and even fell asleep in my arms a couple of times, something a very active 2-year old doesn't do often!

We are looking forward to having some time at home for a while and giving Ron and I both a chance to get our work done. We'll have to pull out that tent soon though and do a camping trip locally.... check back for more soon!
