Our oasis

Ron has created a wonderful oasis on our little deck. It is a great way to enjoy the sights of summer, and we don't have to go far. First, is our row of peppers and tomatoes:And other vegetables, flowers and herbs (basil, nasturtiums, lettuce, cilantro, chives).
We also have a hummingbird feeder on the window, so we can watch hummingbirds from the dining room. If you happen to be sitting on the deck when the hummingbirds come by, it feels suspiciously like being buzzed by a very large insect.

To top it off, I bought Ron a large bird feeder. This attracts all types of birds (chickadees, finches, grackles, red-winged blackbirds and others too) a whole chipmunk family, and those in turn attract a neighborhood cat. No casulaties so far, and adding water guns to our arsenal (see previous post) has kept the cat at bay. It really is wonderful to have so much right outside our door, and the deck is shaded in the evenings, making it a very comfortable place to cook and eat dinner!
